Realta Fusion is a rapidly growing start-up developing compact magnetic mirror fusion energy systems to address the biggest challenge of our time – tackling global climate change while ensuring a sufficient energy supply for at least ten billion people on (and off) earth. We are building a team with diverse talents dedicated to making fusion energy a real solution to humanity’s most pressing problem.

 

The Lead Facilities Engineer will work with Realta’s engineering, scientific, and operations teams to establish facilities capable of delivering Realta’s technology development roadmap. The Lead Facilities Engineer will be critical to successful design and engineering of The Forge – Realta’s R&D campus, built to house prototype fusion energy machines, advanced test stands, and manufacturing centers.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Define R&D facility requirements and specifications. Collaborate with engineering and research teams to define technical requirements for The Forge.
  2. Lead selection and manage the work of architectural and engineering firms, EPC firms, and/or contractors to create facility designs that meet technical needs and regulations
  3. Provide technical engineering input, evaluate designs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure engineering standards are met throughout the project.
  4. Lead project execution. Manage all aspects of project lifecycle, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and communication with stakeholders
  5. Oversee quality assurance processes and the commissioning of facility systems to ensure proper functionality
  6. Synthesize and present technical work internally and externally. Communicate daily with project teams and leadership to support programmatic needs.
  7. Ensure that all engineering activities are conducted in accordance with relevant safety standards and regulations. Conduct safety analyses and risk assessments related to facilities and operations.
  8. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that aligns with the company's mission, values, and sustainability goals.

 

Required Qualifications

  1. Education: BS (+5 years) in technical field or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals. Familiarity with industrial construction.
  3. Proficiency in relevant engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, NX, Solidworks, etc.)
  4. Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, public presentation) to collaborate effectively with colleagues, external partners, and stakeholders.
